Join us for an unforgettable tradition……The kickoff celebration of the Fox Hunt Season at Belle Meade Hunt Club in Thomson, GA.  It is an exciting weekend of fun and frivolity in eastern GA in fox hunt country!

We will meet at a central location in Atlanta and tailgate/carpool from that point around 9 a.m. Saturday, November 5th, drive approximately 2 hours east on Interstate 20 to Thomson, GA. and  arrive at the Belle Meade Hunt Club Farm around noon. We will be attending the opening ceremonies of the Belle Meade Hunt Club and the Blessing of the Hounds before the hunt festivities begin.  After the Blessing of the Hounds, we will board a Tally Ho Wagon (A LARGE WAGON FILLED WITH HAY BALES PULLED BY A TRUCK THAT HOLDS APPROXIMATELY 25 PEOPLE) to follow behind the horses and the hounds to observe and enjoy  a simulated Fox Hunt. (A fox scent is trailed around the hunt area beforehand, the horses and the hunters are all ready, the hounds are let loose, and a simulated Fox Hunt is underway! No blood is shed and no foxes are really hunted.)  This event has been acknowledged as the largest opening day hunt celebration in the U.S.A. We will ride through historic sites and beautiful rolling countryside on our Tally Ho Wagon following scarlet coated hunters and well-trained hounds on a simulated fox hunt!  This is a beautiful celebration of pomp and circumstance, an unforgettable tradition; this is the kickoff of the fox hunting season at Belle Meade Hunt Club, and a fundraiser for the Belle Meade Club to raise revenue for the care and feeding of their hounds for the coming season.  It is a sight to behold and an experience that should not be missed!  We will ride behind the horsemen in our Tally Ho Wagon for the afternoon and share appetizers and drink with those on our wagon.  At the end of the hunt, a champagne toasting is held to celebrate the conclusion of the hunt and the beginning of the new hunt season.  It is a fun filled afternoon of horses, hounds, beautiful countryside and the historic hunt tradition.  After the Hunt Celebration, we will check into rooms at the White Columns Best Western in Thomson, GA for the night (double occupancy).  The hotel has a restaurant which offers good southern cooking, three meals a day. Breakfast is included on Sunday morning.
