Grayton Beach, Sep 2010

"Grayton Beach Labor Day Adventure!"

Date: Friday, Sep 03- Monday, Sep 06, 2010

Trip Information

Join the ASC for our annual party trip to Grayton Beach over Labor Day weekend. We will be staying in quaint, quiet, gorgeous Grayton Beach (voted one of the top ten best beaches in America) and home of the famous "Red Bar Restaurant" and some great shops. We will be spending the weekend in houses located on the beach and in the village of Grayton (the houses are Sea Prize, Laid Back, and Grayton Dunes).  The houses are very well-equipped and comfortable with lots of porches and loads of room. Located to the left and to the right of the village of Grayton Beach is the Grayton Beach State Park and Recreation Area (1133 acres). Bike trails and skating trails are located throughout --connecting the State Park with the little village of Grayton. The State Park offers hiking among the dunes, boat dock, canoeing, kayaking and fishing on Eastern and Western Lake (also located in the State Park) and some very interesting wildlife viewing such as nesting turtles, foxes, raccoons and deer.

Other activities include boat rentals, fishing, exploring several nearby areas such as Watercolors, Seaside, Rosemary Beach and attending the free concerts there at night, art shows and of course, the sunning, the swimming, and the gorgeous beach and waters of Grayton. Close your eyes, think of the beach and turn your watch back about 20 years.... Grayton has no skyscraper hotels and is exactly the way it was back in the 70's! Of course, Destin (AJ's /Lucky Snapper/the fishing harbor, etc.) is 20 min. west and Panama City is 30 min. east of Grayton Beach. And don't forget the newest hot spot between Grayton and Destin - BAYSIDE WHARF with THE RED DOOR Nightclub with show band and the new restaurants and piano bars alongside the Choctowachee Bay.

Check in is 4:00pm on Friday. Saturday is open to do whatever you like - hike, bike, skate, shop, relax on the beach or do nothing at all. Saturday evening, we will have a frozen drink/shooter party and walk to The Red Bar for dinner. Sunday will be spent doing more of the same. We will have a group seafood dinner on Sunday evening. Monday will be spent lazing around until we have to get back to the reality of Atlanta. Included with this trip are 3 nights stay in privately owned houses, breakfast each morning, lunch on Sat. and Sun., dinner on Sunday night and some wonderful memories. Bring your bikes, skates, floats, canoes, kayaks, fishing rods and flip flops (and your dancin' shoes)! And don't forget your White Elephant Gift!
