Our flight from Atlanta departs on October 20 at 3:45pm and connects in Newark, New Jersey at 9:55pm to our International Flight on United Airlines arriving in Delhi, India on October 21 at 9:30pm.
From there we will overnight at a hotel in Delhi and then fly from Delhi to Kathmandu the following morning.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu’s Tribuvan International Airport we will be greeted by our trekking team and transported to our hotel. There will be a briefing this evening about our Trek with an introduction to our trekking guide and Sherpa followed by a welcome dinner of delicious Nepalese food, cultural music and ethnic dance.
The following day, the entire group will be transported by private vehicle from Kathmandu to Pokhara/Nayapul and trek to Hile (3 hour walk) that evening. This begins the 8 day Annapurna Base Camp Trek. A detailed itinerary and packing list is attached.
The Golden Age group will hike with the Trekkers as far as Poon Hill (10/25) and then will return hiking back to Nayapul and then by vehicle back to Pokhara. Please see the outfitter’s detailed itinerary for a description of this shorter version of the trek. Our local vendor will be available to assist you with planning additional optional daily activities to suite your desired exertion level such as sight-seeing bus tours of the Kathmandu Valley villages and temples, rafting trips, bungee jumping, canyoning, paragliding, yoga sessions or even taking a climbing lesson. The Golden Age Package will be $200.00 less than the trekking package, but you will be responsible for payment of the optional activities you select. All guesthouse/hotel accommodations in Pokhara are also included.
On November 1, both groups will return from Pokhara to Kathmandu for two nights and a full day in Kathmandu on November 2, to facilitate optional flight-seeing of Mount Everest and/or additional sight-seeing/shopping in Kathmandu.
On November 3, both groups will fly from Kathmandu to Delhi, where we will spend one night and two days. In Delhi we have included tours planned to visit the the Taj Mahal (near Agra) on the afternoon of our arrival, Red Fort and Connaught Place on the following day. For those who have visited these sites previously and do not wish to return, we are offering a reduction in price of $160.00.
Those participants not continuing on with the India extension will fly home on Nov 4thth at 11:35pm from Delhi, arriving Newark at 4:40am Nov5th and Atlanta at 9:05am on November 5th.
Those participants continuing on with the India extension will proceed by overnight train from Delhi to Jaisalmer. We will arrive late afternoon in Jaisalmer with some time for sight-seeing and spend the night at a hotel in Jaisalmer.
The following day we will begin our overnight Camel Safari into the desert, where we actually ride our camels thru the desert to a remote campsite. This will be tent accommodations with meals included, and we will return to Jaisalmer the following afternoon.
Once again we will take an overnight train. This time to Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, and the gateway to India’s most flamboyant state. We will visit Jaipur’s most famous site, the Amber Fort, arriving by elephant back.
From there we will transfer by private motor coach to Ranthambore National Park Hotel. Ranthambore National Park is the most famous of the wild tiger preserves, containing a 10th century fort at its center, with ancient temples, mosques, vine covered tombs, and crocodile filled lakes scattered throughout the sanctuary. We will be able to participate in three or four game safaris as we spend two nights in the park.
We will then transfer to the local airport at Jaipur and fly to Delhi where we will then transfer to the international airport and fly home, departing Delhi on Nov 10th at 11:35pm and arriving Newark at 4:40 am on Nov 11, and then arriving in Atlanta at 9:05am on Nov 11th.
