Come join us to Whistler / Blackcomb for our Ski-In, Ski-Out lodging within British Columbia’s glacial climate and scenic beauty.  The impressive 8,171 acres of accessible terrain for every ski level is serviced by 36 lifts and the longest continuous lift system on the globe, Peak 2 Peak Gondola, which connects skiers and riders from Whistler to Blackcomb Mountains.

Whistler Blackcomb

Holding the title of North America’s largest resort, these two colossal mountains offer more than 200 marked trails that include miles and miles of perfectly groomed trails, in-bounds, backcountry, wide-open glaciers, powder-filled bowls, and secluded glades.  Freestylers will find six terrain parks that accommodate beginners to elite athletes, including a 22 foot super pipe.  Averaging 462 inches of snowfall each year, there’s something for everyone at Whistler Blackcomb.  And In October 2016, Vail Resorts announced their official acquisition of Whistler Blackcomb, which now makes Whistler a part of the Epic Ski Pass.

Opportunities are available for the following non-ski excursions:  Zip Lining, Snowmobiling, Dog Sledding, or Snow Shoeing.  Helicopter, snow-cat, or backcountry skiing can also be arranged.

Whistler Village is a lively mix of off-hill action and amenities, folded into a pedestrian-only vibrant hub conveniently located directly at the base of the slopes of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains.  Teeming with shops, restaurants, accommodations and day –to –day essentials, the Village anchors a year-round mountain.

For the third consecutive year, the SKI Magazine Resort Survey has named Whistler Blackcomb as the number one Overall Ski Resort in North America.  Whistler Blackcomb has held this title four times in the last five years and has also consistently scored high for terrain variety, off-hill activities, lodging, and après ski.

MOUNTAIN STATS: Whistler and Blackcomb are two side-by-side mountains, offering over 200 marked runs, 8,171 acres of terrain, 16 alpine bowls and 3 glaciers combined, receiving 1,036 centimeters (408 inches) of snow on average annually.

LODGING:  Legends Condos
Legends is a condominium-style lodge, with ski-in-ski-out access in Whistler Creekside, just steps away from the Creekside Gondola. In the summer, Legends provides direct access to the alpine including mountain biking trails as well. This lodge offers two bedroom and three bedroom suites, some overlooking the famous "Dave Murray" ski run where the 2010 Winter Olympic Alpine events took place.

FAQs (From questions the trip leader has received so far):

I am a (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) level skier, will I have plenty to ski?

Beginner runs are 20% of trails, and Beginner and Intermediate trails combined is 55% of their 200+ trails. So there are plenty of beginner to intermediate trails for everyone with the massive grooming force they have. For those more adventurous the other 45% of those 200+ trails are Advanced to Expert. So this is a well balanced mountain for everyone!

Are there things to do if I don’t ski every day?

Absolutely! We are staying in Whistler Creekside ski base area (Similar to other resorts base areas) not far from Whistler/Blackcomb towns. Also this is truly a winter mountain town so there is about every winter activity known to man available.

Can you save me a spot?

While I would absolutely love to, It is club policy to take signups on a first come and first serve basis. So if you are interested in going, now is the time to signup before we are full!

I don’t know yet if I can go. What can I do?

You have two options, 1) It is just a $300 cancelation fee after signup until Oct. AND 2) I would suggest if you are worried about something coming up, but don’t want to miss out before the trips fill up, is pick up trip insurance. While the club doesn’t offer it directly, one of our travel partners offers a plan see (https://www.winterskiandsport.com/trip-insurance). If you search travel insurance on google you will find dozens of other options. Some insurance policies have options such as “Cancel for any reason”. Just make sure to read their terms and conditions and they match what you want covered.

Is January a good time of year to go?

While I don’t have a crystal ball to predict the weather, Whistler Blackcomb typically experiences excellent snow conditions in January. It's considered one of the best months for powder, with heavy and consistent snowfall. Whistler Blackcomb typically receives around 74 inches (187 centimeters) of new snowfall in January. Another source states the average is 2.3 meters (approximately 90.5 inches).

What are lift tickets looking like?

Whistler / Blackcomb is part of the EPIC pass system. Right now they are recommending you get an EPIC pass that meets your needs from just a multi-day epic ticket to an entire epic season pass. We have not been advised on club group lift tickets yet, and IF additional savings group lift tickets are offered we have been told that won’t occur until after the EPIC Sales Ends (In early December). As we don’t know what the resort will offer in December, your best bet is to get your Epic pass that meets your needs now. I have included links to the Epic site, and our travel partner for this trip that is offering some additional rebates.

I heard it can be a little damp at the base occasionally?

With a base altitude of about 2.200ft (Half the altitude of Denver, Co) the base has been known to be a little damp some days. This is fantastic for anyone that gets altitude sickness at higher elevations. Just don’t let the occasional base dampness be a disappointment as well over 90% of their entire terrain is 1/3 up the mountain and above. Due to Whistler being North of the US, and an altitude climb of about 5,200 feet from base to summit (7,497ft Summit), the Blackcomb Glacier has actually been known to be skiable year around some years. So the occational damp day at the bottom many days means SNOW 1/3 up the mountain, and sometimes even SUN and a beautiful day above the clouds at the summit. So with the mass majority of the skiable terrain being higher up in the mountain, and the huge elevation gain from base to summit, those damp days at the bottom can be a sign of an INCREDIBLE and some of the BEST ski days up the mountain!!! It is just one of the many very unique things about Whistler that you get nowhere else!
