Big Sky - Jan 2018

Big Sky, Montana

Trip Coordinator: Gerry Smith  - 678-472-1183 gerardpsmith@gmail.com

Big Sky Resort is known for giving skiers and riders access to more skiing than anywhere else in the United States. Located in south central Montana, about fifty miles south of Bozeman, Big Sky provides visitors with updated amenities, a well developed infrastructure and over 5,750 acres of skiable terrain.

Big Sky Resort

The resort offers some of the best expert and advanced terrain around while including an extensive network of trails suited for the intermediate and beginner skier or snowboarder. The resort is the basecamp to Yellowstone National Park and provides daily shuttles to Yellowstone’s west entrance. The resort has everything one would expect from a modern ski resort including a variety of dining, lodging, and shopping possibilities.

For those who have been to Big Sky, you know what I mean when I say this is truly a luxury trip.

This year we have two properties for you to choose from in Big Sky.

You can stay at the always incomparable Summit, or for a heavily reduced price and slightly reduced amenities you can reside at the Village Center.

A day in the life at Big Sky:

Arise from your deep slumber in your luxury Boyne bed, don some leisure clothing and make your way Peak’s restaurant or the Huntley Lodge for a gourmet breakfast. This breakfast is included in the trip price and is NOT a continental breakfast. Custom omelets, hash browns, waffles, French toast, blintzes (nothing kills a hangover like a scrumptious blintz). You can even have smoked salmon and light meats if that's your thing. After a leisurely breakfast meander back to your room to enjoy the morning mountain views from condo as you prepare for a day of big mountain skiing.

Guests come for the sensation of the endless terrain under an expansive “Big Sky” and to leave the crowds behind.  Big Sky Resort consists of four mountains connected by chair lifts, providing a magnitude of intertwined terrain levels.  From the steeps of Lone Peak to the powder stashes found throughout the natural fall line, Big Sky has it all!

The Summit and the Village Center are the definition of ski in/ski out. Upon exiting either location you have your choice of the Ramcharger lift which will deliver you to a selection of wide open expansive greens and blues, or take the Swift Current to Lone Peak for access to the rest of the mountain. I guarantee you will have times where the solitude makes you feel as though you are the only skier on the mountain. Even if you can’t ski the expert terrain off of Lone Peak you can still take the tram to the summit and experience the 360-degree views from the top of the world. Grab a few selfies from the viewing platform or hike the short distance to the absolute summit for some of the best panoramas in the world. Take the tram back down where you can ski an easy blue back to the intermediate skiing.

When you are done with your day of big mountain skiing return to your condo, head to your room, wrestle out of your ski clothes, and join your fellow club members in the swimming pool-sized soaking tubs for a few cold ones. Feel free to BYOB and enjoy the mountain views while soaking away the sore muscles. Big Sky is the one place where the après ski hot tub is better than the après ski in the bar. Of course we’ll still have après ski at the bar at least once.

If you still have the energy, return to your room, clean up and prepare yourself for a night out. Big Sky has a fantastic selection of bars and gourmet restaurants from which to choose.

Day over. Go to bed and repeat.

If you enjoy a day off from skiing, a trip to Yellowstone is a splendid one-day diversion. Experience the majesty of Yellowstone on a guided snowmobile trip or take an easy trip in an enclosed all-terrain vehicle. The Peak Restaurant and Huntley Lodge will allow you to come in before opening and load a to-go box for breakfast.
